Southerland is what country music in 2023 is supposed to be; custom built for current day but rooted in what makes country music country. The duo, comprised of Matt Chase and Chris Rogers, come together as seamlessly as some of the great duos before them and new single ‘World Without You’ proves that in spades.
Released last Friday, ‘World Without You’ continues Southerland’s tradition of releasing quality songs. With vocals as comfortable as a favourite flannel and guitars overflowing with an uber rich tone ‘World Without You’ is what radio should be all about. You can tell by the harmonies and songwriting this duo isn’t manufactured but manifested by the throngs of country music fans praying for somebody new they could relate to.
‘World Without You’ is more than just a song, it’s a billboard that reinstates the faith that budding country artists can still understand what country music is, where it comes from and how to make a damn good version of it for themselves.
