Matt Schuster releases a very raw, heartfelt new song in ‘Wasted Prayers’

Breakout Country talent Matt Schuster makes his 2023 debut with the multi-dimensional, double-meaning ballad ‘Wasted Prayers’, available everywhere now. Written by Schuster with Adam Yuron and Jonny Price, the raw barstool ballad finds Schuster having liquor soaked conversations with God and wishing things had turned out differently in a relationship.

Backed by heavenly harmonies with unabashed self-awareness, the song comes to a crescendo as Schuster’s powerful voice pleads for another chance. “Chase a pull with another shot / then bow my head and talk to God / wake up sober and you’re not there / I’ve been praying wasted prayers.”

“The inspiration for the song came to me at a writer’s round when I was feeling a little bit discouraged. This career is a race against yourself mentally, so I found myself drinking about it,” Schuster shares. “I remember having a little bit of a spiritual moment right there in the chaos of the bar and immediately seeing the double meaning behind ‘wasted prayers.’ I think everyone can relate to the frustration of feeling like your thoughts or prayers go unanswered and I’m excited for everyone to have this one.”

First teasing the track to his 560K+ followers on TikTok earlier this month, the anticipation for the full studio version was palpable. After seeing massive success by releasing music independently over the last two years, Schuster has already had four of his tracks land in the top 200 of Spotify’s Country Global chart.

Amassing over 60M streams with original songs such as ‘Know Ya,’ ‘From The Start’ and ‘Who Are You Kidding?’ Schuster moved from Charleston, Ill. to Nashville just five months ago. Quickly catching attention from fans and the industry alike with his vulnerable writing style and gritty yet booming vocal range, the rising talent continues to build out his team with new music expected later this year.
