The video game industry has come an incredibly long way since its inception. Once upon a time, games were viewed as a children’s medium, and adults that still enjoyed them were few and far between. In 2023, however, that is definitely no longer the case.
The Industry Today
Games today are made with as wide an audience as possible in mind. Sure, children’s games are still being produced. However, most video game developers now produce games with a teenage to adult audience in mind.
Not to mention, big developers are not the only ones making splashes. Recently, indie games have been gaining a lot more traction. Games like ‘Cuphead’, ‘Hades’, ‘the Binding of Isaac’, and of course, ‘MineCraft‘, are all independent games that reached a wide audience, on par with the Big Boys.
On top of that, online games are also incredibly popular. New online games reach an audience daily. One of the most prominent examples of this are the online casinos that are being developed with increasing frequency. In 2022, the iGaming industry rose drastically, and it is expected to grow even further in 2023.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
‘Suicide Squad’ (2021) was a huge success. The soft reboot of the franchise brought in a huge audience and made quite a few folks excited for the future of the anti-hero team. So, the upcoming video game, ‘Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’, has certainly caused a stir.
Developed by Rocksteady (the team behind Arkham), the upcoming game will focus on four members of the Suicide Squad, who are tasked with stopping Brainiac from taking over Metropolis. Unfortunately, the villain has brainwashed the JLA, and now the former villains must try to save the heroes they despise.
Spider-Man 2
Another superhero title, ‘Spider-Man 2’ is the long-anticipated sequel to the 2018 game. In the upcoming sequel, players will not only be able to play as Peter Parker, but also, they will take control of Miles Morales, the second Spider-Man.
From what we know, the game is set in an open-world, and will feature the same high-intensity action gameplay of its predecessor and spin-off. We know very little about what the story will be. However, we are aware that Venom will be the major villain.
Legend of Zelda Sequel
Nintendo has yet to reveal the title of the upcoming sequel to ‘Breath of the Wild‘. However, even with no name, gameplay, or teaser, the ‘Legend of Zelda’ series remains one of the most popular and highly-anticipated games of 2023. No surprises there. Link’s fight against Ganon has endured since the 1980s, with major games in the series being considered some of the best video games of all time.
