Walter Presents to launch across Scandinavia

Streaming platform Walter Presents is expanding to Scandinavia after signing a two-year deal with SVOD platform C More.

The deal will see the platform launch a wide selection of award winning international scripted series across Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland.Ā

Walter Presents, which specializes in premium non-English language programming, will initially launch on C More with an 80-hour collection encompassing 8 first-run and exclusive series. This will build to 500 hours over two years through regular fortnightly title launches.

Shows available to C More viewers will include Dutch psychological thriller ā€œThe Blood Pactā€, Italian crime thrillers ā€œThou Shalt Not Killā€ and ā€œIce Cold Murders: Rocco Schiavoneā€, French crime dramas ā€œVanished by the Lakeā€ and ā€œThe Other Motherā€, and the gripping Belgian political action thriller ā€œBlackoutā€.Ā

As a key player in the Nordic market for SVOD services, C More is recognized for its broad palette of high-quality drama. Combined with exclusive broadcasting rights for major sports leagues and a large portfolio of popular reality and tv shows, C More is focused on investing in local drama productions contributing to the international drama scene. The C More original Sthlm Requiem is one example of an original C More series that has gained a lot of international traction and was the most watched show at Walter Presents during 2020. C More is the first SVOD platform in the Nordics presenting a curated service with Walter Presents.

In the five years since its UK launch, Walter Presents has significantly expanded its global footprint and this deal will make the brand available in 13 countries around the world. The service is currently in the UK on C4 and its AVOD streaming service All4, the US and Canada on PBS Masterpiece SVOD Amazon Channel as well as having linear slots on both PBSā€™ regional stations and national schedule. The service is also available in the US via Comcastā€™s Xfinity SVOD platform and on the Roku Channel. In addition, the Walter Presents curated collection is also available in Australia on SVOD platform STAN, New Zealand on AVOD service TVNZ on demand, Belgium on SVOD service StreamZ, Italy on SVOD platform Discovery +, Russia on SVOD platform Start, Latin America on DMDā€™s streaming service Cinde.

Walter Presents Founder and Curator Walter Iuzzolino says: ā€˜This is a significant milestone for Walter Presents and I am hugely proud to be working with a fantastic platform like C More to bring the very best of world drama to viewers in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland. Scandinavia has been at the forefront of the global drama revolution and made the rest of the world fall in love with premium subtitled drama. In just a handful of years, that cultural revolution has truly come full circle, and giant global audiences are now enjoying series made all over the world in record numbers. So this is the perfect time to thank Scandinavia for changing our understanding and appreciation of international television, by bringing to their audiences some of the most compelling and exciting series produced across Europe and beyond.ā€™Ā

Karin Lindstrƶm, acting Head of Acquisitions at C More says: We are thrilled about launching Walter Presents on our streaming platform, providing our customers with high quality drama from all over the world. Itā€™s the perfect complement to our Nordic C More original series. We see a growingĀ interest in international and non-English-speaking drama, and I believe this is an opportunity for our audience to find some new favorites they might have never heard of otherwise!Ā

Anna Chrona, Head of C More OTT says: “We live in a world of content. The challenge for todayā€™s users isnā€™t to find something to watch ā€“ but to find the gems that you didnā€™t know you were looking for. Almost all digital services are using algorithm-driven recommendation systems to push specific titles to the user. With Walter Presents we are the first streaming platform in the Nordics to bring a curated collection of hand-picked drama titles to our audience. Itā€™s like having a personal shopper but for high-quality drama!Ā “
