Asleep at the Wheel team up with Lyle Lovett for ‘There You Go Again’

Asleep at the Wheel have teamed up with Lyle Lovett for their new single ‘There You Go Again’.

Written just before the recording of the band’s new album ‘Half a Hundred Years’, ‘There You Go Again’ is a feel-good, light-hearted jab at pretentiousness and all the silly ways it shows up in the writersā€™ lives, brought together with flourishes of fiddle and steel before crescendoing into a full-on New Orleans second line, walking back out the door as quickly as it came in.

ā€œI suppose itā€™s a song about pretentious people!ā€ says The Wheelā€™s fearless ringleader Ray Benson of their new song. ā€œMy pal Lyle Lovett, one of the most unpretentious people I know, joined in and made it a very special track.ā€

‘Half A Hundred Years’ is a 19-track record and it will be released on 1st OctoberĀ 2021.

Greats like Willie Nelson, George Strait, Emmylou Harris, Lee Ann Womack, and Lovett appear throughoutĀ ‘Half A Hundred Years’Ā on a host of classic and destined-to-be-classic Western Swing and Country tunes. Additionally, three original members of Asleep at the Wheel ā€” Chris Oā€™Connell, Leroy Preston, and Lucky Oceans ā€”returned after 4o years to lend their voices and musicianship to a number of tracks.
