5 times Mariah Carey proved she’s the Queen of Christmas

Mariah Carey is the undisputed Queen of Christmas thanks to her iconic 1994 album Merry Christmas and the huge hit All I Want For Christmas Is You.

Today Mariah has released the Deluxe Anniversary Edition of Merry Christmas to mark its 25th anniversary featuring a second disc full of unreleased recordings and bonus material.

The album can be bought in a wide range of packages from http://mariahcareyshopuk.com and there are some limited edition All I Want For Christmas Is You singles for sale too.

With Halloween officially out the way, we can finally start our Christmas celebrations earlier and what better way to do that than looking at the 5 times Mariah proved that she really is the Queen of Christmas…

1. All I Want For Christmas Is You – the best Christmas song ever recorded!

Is there a more iconic Christmas hit than All I Want For Christmas Is You? The song is the enduring and charts across the world every November and December. It’s absolutely criminal that it’s never hit the number one spot in the UK or the US but hopefully that’ll all change this year.

2. Her spine-tingling definitive rendition of O Holy Night

The Merry Christmas album is incredible and people sometimes don’t look past All I Want For Christmas Is You. Mariah’s version of O Holy Night is close to godliness. She scales up and down those notes with power and emotion, and if you aren’t moved by her rendition, then you probably need to go check you’ve got a pulse.

3. Her iconic All I Want For Christmas Is You tours

What started off as a residency at New York City’s Radio Music Hall became an annual event that included the UK and other parts of Europe. The past two years saw Mariah bring her festive extravaganza to the UK and she packed out The O2 Arena. Singing all the classics from both of her Christmas albums and putting on a display like no other, Mariah really solidified her status as the Queen of Christmas.

4. Her second Christmas album Merry Christmas II You

Most artists only put out one Christmas album during their career but not Mariah. Not content with already dominating Christmas with her Merry Christmas album, Mariah put out the sequel Merry Christmas II You in 2010. Oh Santa is a total festive bop and Mariah even put a new version of All I Want For Christmas Is You on there too. It’s not had the love that Merry Christmas has but it deserves plenty of attention.

5. Her must-watch film adaptation of All I Want For Christmas Is You

Mariah turned her hit song All I Want For Christmas Is You into a children’s picture book and then in 2017, into a movie. Telling the story of a young girl named, you guessed it, Mariah who desperately wants a dog, All I Want For Christmas Is You is a sweet animated film with Mariah’s songs as the soundtrack. She also narrates it!
