Technology has massively shaped and changed our lives, just about everything we do these days is somehow linked up to our tech gadgets and devices. Here are some of the ways it makes our lives better without even leaving the house.

Make your home more secure

Thanks to the rise of smart home technology, our homes are safer than ever before. From affordable CCTV systems and burglar alarms that link right up to our smartphones, to programmable lights, smart plug sockets and even smart curtain rails to open and close curtains. There’s no risk of a burglar targeting your home just because it looks empty, you can turn on lights and appliances from anywhere in the world. You can open and close curtains, and keep tabs on any room in your home by ‘dropping in’ to devices like Amazon’s Echo Show or by checking your smart cameras. Gone are the days where you’d be trying to have fun on holiday but have niggling worries in the back of your mind about your home. No more being stuck late at work and being concerned that you’d be broken into where the house looks empty. Smart home and security go hand in hand.

Whether you work from home on some days a week, are solely a remote worker or run your own business, thanks to technology and the internet it’s perfectly possible to earn a full time living from home. You can buy or sell products for a profit, you could sell crafts that you’ve made or you could essentially sell your skills by teaching. Thanks to video chat services like Skype, it’s possible to have clients from anywhere in the world. Find the right popup banner for eLearning companies if you decide to go down this route, a good marketing agency will be able to set everything up for you.

There’s an argument on both sides when it comes to technology and socialising. Some people feel as though it actually drives us apart where people substitute seeing friends and loved ones with chats on social media and messaging services. However, used in the right way it can be a wonderful thing. It enables us to keep in contact with people we otherwise would have drifted apart from. It means we can chat to loved ones who live all over the world without spending a fortune on phone bills, and we can generally stay ‘in the loop’ in the lives of those we care about. If you have the chance to see people in person then of course, don’t pass that opportunity up because you can speak to them online. However, for the most part most of us don’t work like that. We use technology to improve our relationships and friendships rather than take away from them.

Exercise incentive

There are a number of great tools that can make exercising more fun. From computer game systems like the Wii Fit to Fitbits and trackers, exercise videos on Youtube. Having technology that can monitor you or you can interact with or change to suit you can all be really motivational. In the not too distant past, you’d buy a workout DVD and have to do that until you get bored. These days, you have hundreds of thousands of different workouts to stream online that you can chop and change whenever you like.

Makes life easier

Whether you’re disabled, unwell or just busy, there’s no doubt that technology can make our lives easier. We can order groceries, prescriptions, clothes or just about anything we want right to our door from the internet. We can control lights, heating and appliances using our voice activated speaker. We can look up any information we need, and generally everything is quicker, easier and less hassle than it would have been before the invention of the gadgets we have today.
