New Captain Marvel footage, featurette & IMAX artwork arrives starring Brie Larson

Brand new Captain Marvel footage, a sneak-peek featurette and stunning new IMAX poster artwork has arrived, starring Brie Larson.

The eagerly-anticipated new Marvel Studios movie Captain Marvel opens in cinema across the country on 8th March 2019.

Academy Award winner Brie Larson (Room) stars as Carol Danvers, who transforms into Captain Marvel to save the world – past, present and future. And any Marvel fans out there who knows about the current state of the MCU (Marvel Cinema Universe), knows that Carol Danvers has a vitally important role to play in the next phase of Marvel’s movie adventures.

The ‘Special Look’ segment from Marvel Studios gives fans a chance to see some brand new sequences from the film in an extended trailer-styled clip. The featurette finds the directors and cast talking about some of the stunts and preparation needed for Captain Marvel before Brie Larson goes on a test flight in a fighter jet.

The gorgeous new artwork gives us a great glimpse at one of the suits Larson will wear in the movie. If movie-goers want to feel like they are right there with Carol Danvers throughout her intergalactic adventure, they must see it in IMAX because the presentation of it will be specially formatted for IMAX cinemas (which means key sequences will be presented with up to 26% more picture on the biggest screen vs. the standard picture in standard cinemas).

The IMAX release of Captain Marvel will also be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience with proprietary IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images, coupled with IMAX’s customised cinema geometry and powerful digital audio, create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.

Joining up with Brie Larson in Captain Marvel are Samuel L. Jackson reprising his role as Nick Fury, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Annette Bening, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, Clark Gregg and Jude Law.

All of the footage that has been released so far has been very impressive; with a lot of the action looking like it takes place in space. Expect Captain Marvel to be a little bit like Guardians of the Galaxy review with the cosmic element playing an important role in her life and origin story.

Avengers: Infinity War first teased Captain Marvel’s appearance in their amazing post-credits sting. After that, we had a great mid-credits scene from Ant-Man & The Wasp that really showed just how much disarray the MCU has been left in after Thanos executed his masterplan.

After good groundwork laid in Captain America: Civil War and Spider-Man: Homecoming, the path is now clear for Captain Marvel to really turn the Marvel Cinematic Universe on its head.

Captain Marvel is directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck.
