Luke Combs talks about being influenced by 90s Country and having creative input in his career

Luke Combs is one of the artists that has picked up the most buzz ahead of C2C: Country to Country 2018.

Before performing on the Main Stage today at The O2 Arena in London, Combs sat down with with the media to talk about his life and career. He revealed that he listened to a lot of 90s Country music when growing up but admitted that he stopped for a while.

‘I was disenfranchised from it because it was all about the beach and we didn’t have that where we were,’ he explained.

He got back into the genre when he started to seriously consider a career in music. ‘I taught myself to play and started writing songs.’

As well as writing his own music, Combs is creatively involved in all aspects of his career including his videos. ‘The One Number (Away) video, the twist at the end was my idea. I’m luck to have folks that can execute that kind of thing.’

During the press conference Combs revealed that his October headline show at Shepherds’ Bush Empire has already sold out (in less than 24 hours). He promised a second date was going to be announced very soon.

Combs will open the Main Stage at C2C: Country to Country 2018 today at The O2 Arena in London.
