Kacey Musgraves calls Golden Hour her ‘most personal’ to date

Kacey Musgraves returned to C2C: Country to Country following her Main Stage performance back in 2016.

Earlier this week she performed at a Spotify Fans First event where she previewed songs from her forthcoming album Golden Hour. Before her headline performance today, Musgraves sat down with press to talk about her music and her career.

Talking about the album title Golden Hour Musgraves revealed, ‘Where I’m from and where I’m at now are very different but they’re connected as well. My hometown (Golden, Texas) is definitely an influence. A lot has happened since I last made music. I married my husband and songs started coming out.’

I asked Kacey about the shift in direction for Golden Hour. The songs are more personal than observational about other people. ‘That’s a good observation from you,’ Musgraves replied. ‘I never want to paint myself into a corner and I’ve done the lyrical wit before. I may go back it but I feel this is my most personal record to date. There are many facets to me.’

Musgraves will be on tour this summer with Harry Styles. ‘It’ll be cool to see if his fans like my music, as I don’t know if they like Country music.’

Kacey Musgraves headlines the Main Stage at C2C: Country to Country 2018 today at The O2 Arena in London.
