Wye Oak are back and have revealed details of their triumphant fifth album, The Louder I Call, The Faster It Runs, which is set for release on April 6th via Merge Records. For their new album, Wye Oak’s Jenn Wasner and Andy Stack flew to one another’s cities, she travelled to Durham, North Carolina and he travelled to Marfa, Texas for a week or so at a time, the two would then sort through each’s ideas and sketches of songs. The band discarded past rules about how to write a record, instead combined experiences and experiments into a fabulous hybrid. The result is hailed as some of Wye Oak’s biggest, broadest and boldest music Wye Oak yet.
The band will also embark on a mammoth tour, which starts in the US in April.
