C2C 2018: Lindsay Ell profile

Canadian musician Lindsay Ell has spent years on the road in a bid to achieve her big break in the Country music industry.

That hard work paid off in 2017 when Ell released her debut Stoney Creek album The Project following the success of lead single Waiting On You. The album’s current single Criminal is shaping up to be Ell’s biggest yet having reached number 27 on the US Country Airplay Chart.

Born in Calgary, Ell was discovered by Randy Bachman when she was only 15 years old. As well as being a talented singer and songwriter, Ell is an incredibly gifted guitarist who has been influenced by the likes of John Mayer and Keith Urban. She’s also an official Martin Guitar artist.

Ell released two albums prior to The Project – Consider This (2008) and Alone (2009) – as well EP Worth the Wait in 2017. In 2015 she had a moderate hit with By the Way, which peaked at number 14 on the Canadian Country Chart.

During her breakthrough in 2017, Ell was given a rough ride by Country radio when she revealed she was dating influential radio personality Bobby Bones. The two decided to split citing the impact it was having on Ell’s career. It’s hard to believe that their relationship is even an issue in this day and age isn’t it?

In October 2017 Ell travelled to the UK to perform as part of Country Music Week. Her solo headline show at The Borderline was one of the highlights of the week and she wowed with her incredible musicianship. It’s not easy to hold an audience when you’re performing on your own but Ell did it with relative ease.

In March Ell will be back in the UK to perform as part of C2C: Country to Country. She will be opening the Spotlight Stage at The O2 Arena in London and performing at the Country Music Week Hub and on the Late Night Stage on Sunday 11th March and she will also be performing on the BBC Radio 2 Stage on Saturday 10th March.

Ell truly is one artist you don’t want to miss this year and we’ve got a feeling she’ll be back on the Main Stage in years to come.
