Kendrick Lamar and Arcade Fire set to play Øya festival 2018

Øya Festival has revealed further details regarding its 2018 line-up, including Thursday night headliner Kendrick Lamar. Øya has cemented its enviable reputation as one of the most critically respected festivals taking place in the summer, presenting audiences with tastefully curated, out of the ordinary headliners. One of the world’s most green events, Øya has also become the benchmark in sustainable practices and standards for festivals around the world.

Kendrick Lamar will be joining already announced Friday night headliner Lykke Li. Part of the new generation of West coast rappers, Lamar is a rare breed of artist: one that has achieved commercial success whilst maintaining coveted tastemaker status amongst the critics.

Also confirmed to play at the 18,000 capacity festival this year are indie stars, Arcade Fire. The Canadian sextet will be bringing their combination of rock muscle and theatrical, unapologetic bombast to the Øya main stage on Wednesday night.

Other additions include British alt-rockers Wolf Alice, LA singer and writer of rich soul, art-pop-, folk and ambient R&B infused songs Moses Sumney, BRIT Award nominee and Black Butter Records rapper J HUS, and soulful, jazz-inspired songstress and rising star Jorja Smith.

Øya is not just about the music and seeks to operate in the most environmentally sound approach possible. The entire event is incredibly powered by sustainable electricity and its festival waste is hand-sorted and recycled and 70% of it can be reused. The audience also benefits from the festival’s environmentally friendly approach in the way of almost only organic and locally sourced food from small scale providers, and all caterers are required to deliver a menu that’s at least 50% meat-free.
