Big Burns Supper festival unveils 2018 programme

Festival unveiles a hugely eclectic and culturally diverse programme for the 2018.

The Big Burns Supper returns in 2018 and has revealed details of its programme. The festival will take place between the 18th and 28th January, bringing top artists and performers to Dumfries to join tens of thousands of residents and visitors in a modern celebration of Scotland’s National Bard.

2018’s programme features a great music selection, cabaret and comedy including, Bill Bailey, Camille O’Sullivan, Public Service Broadcasting, Marcel Lucont, Eddie Reader, Mercury Prize winner Badly Drawn Boy, Ocean Wisdom hailed as the ‘future of UK hip hop’ and iconic Scottish pop band, Les McKeown’s Bay City Rollers.

 Executive Producer, Graham Main said; “The full line-up makes this our most ambitious festival in our seven years, and we are thrilled to welcome diverse artists to the already jam-packed programme. Our 2018 Festival programme is about experiencing something different by bringing our audience to our festival hub which is reclaiming its rightful position in the centre of Dumfries, at the heart of the amazing venues that help make our programme incredible.”

International Development Minister Alasdair Allan, said; “The festival is adopting a modern, creative twist to celebrate our national bard. Big Burns Supper has created a world-class programme that will include concerts and outdoor events planned across Dumfries. Musicians such as Mercury prize winner Badly Drawn Boy, Hip hop rapper Ocean Wisdom & Donovan will perform as part of the 11 days of music, theatre, dance, comedy and cabaret.’’

Chair of the Big Burns Supper board, Karen Clapperton said; “We are indebted to our local partners, SP Energy Networks, Loreburn Housing, D-Lux, Dumfries & Galloway Council and our local venues, the army of local volunteers who work with us to create the magic that is Big Burns Supper Festival.”
