When it comes to artists enjoying breakout success in 2017, Carly Pearce is one that’s leading the charge. The singer-songwriter had her first glimpse at success when she signed a development deal with Sony Music Nashville in 2012 but that unfortunately came to nothing. Now signed to Big Machine Records, Pearce has enjoyed a Top 10 hit with her debut single Every Little Thing, which has also impacted on the Billboard Hot 100 too. With Every Little Thing still riding high, Pearce recently released her debut album of the same name.

Going into Every Little Thing it was hard to know what to expect. Would Pearce put together an album of variations on Every Little Thing? Could any song live up to that fantastic track? The good news is that Every Little Thing isn’t the best song on the record and when it comes to what to expect, the one word I’d use is variety. The album shows off every single side of Pearce presenting her as a multi-faceted artist with plenty to give.

The album opens very strong with the tongue-in-cheek Hide the Wine where Pearce admits she doesn’t trust herself around someone so she removes everything that could lower her inhibitions. We’ve all been there and that’s what makes the song so damn good. It’s relatable, it’s funny and it’s very, very catchy.

Every Little Thing contains 13 perfectly crafted songs with Pearce co-writing 8 of them. Every single track here could be a single so there’s no fear that Every Little Thing is going to be the only smash. From the urgent driving beat of Careless through to the emotional If My Name Was Whiskey, which really shows off Pearce’s gorgeous voice, there’s something here for everyone. Everybody Gonna Talk is one of punchier moments on the record with Pearce injecting more sass into her vocal delivery and Honeysuckle is a joyous mid-tempo number that is sure to put a smile on even the most miserable of faces.

The two standout moments, in my opinion, come on Feel Somethin’ and album closer Dare Ya. At first I thought Feel Somethin’ was overly wordy, taking a little inspiration from Darius Rucker’s If I Told You, but once the chorus kicks in the song leaps to another level. Dare Ya, a song that was originally released earlier in the year, has a new arrangement for the album version and it’s such a beautiful and affecting song. Pearce’s voice is wonderful on the track and her higher range is on full display.

Elsewhere on the record Doin’ It Right sees Pearce giving a lover a dressing down, Color has a soaring and euphoric chorus that sticks in your brain, and Catch Fire is a little more down and dirty sounding than anything else on the record.

Every Little Thing is a stunning debut from Carly Pearce. If you thought Every Little Thing the song was special, just wait until you here the full-length record. Pearce is one of the most exciting artists to emerge in Country music this year and she’s right alongside Kelsea Ballerini and Lauren Alaina in leading the charge of female artists getting the attention, and praise, they have long deserved.
