Nashville 5×11 Fire and Rain preview

Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton) was laid to rest on the latest episode of Nashville but she left a mess for her family to sort out.

Following the funeral it was revealed that Rayna hadn’t specified the arrangements for Maddie (Lennon Stella) and Daphne (Maisy Stella) in her will or left any plan in place for Highway 65. Deacon (Charles Esten) butted heads with Teddy (Eric Close) and Tandy (Judith Hoag) when he found out they were planning to fight for custody of the girls.

Daphne felt caught in the middle of the fight worried that whichever choice she made, would upset someone. Maddie pleaded with Deacon to fight to keep them and promised Daphne that she would never let them get split up.

Trying to do the right thing, Deacon told Teddy he could have custody of the girls.

Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) volunteered to perform a tribute to Rayna at the CMT Awards but decided she wasn’t the right person to do it. Instead she encouraged Maddie to perform and watched from the side of the stage as she broke down mid-song. Deacon and Daphne joined her on stage to finish the song.

After the performance Teddy asked Deacon to look after the girls and asked if they could work out a mutual arrangement when he got out of prison in three months.

Elsewhere in the episode Scarlett (Clare Bowen) struggled to keep things together as she tried to look after everyone, and Will (Chris Carmack) and Zach (Cameron Scoggins) shared a kiss.

The next episode is Fire and Rain. Juliette helps Maddie navigate the wave of attention she receives after her performance at the CMT Music Awards. Zach demands the masters from Rayna and Deacon’s unfinished album.
