Prison Break returns to UK screens tomorrow night, April 10th, for an unexpected fifth season – that’s a week after it aired in the U.S. so beware of spoilers.
Season four of Prison Break aired almost eight years ago, back in 2009. In the final episode, Michael Schofield (Wentworth Miller) sacrificed himself in order for Sara Tancredi (Sarah Wayne Callies) to escape. We always thought that was the end for Michael and presumably the show too as it was left without it’s main character.
Prison Break made for some addictive TV viewing and we’ve got to say we rather missed having it around. Fortunately we weren’t the only ones and after much rumour, Prison Break has finally returned along with most of the original cast.
Ahead of the premiere we’ve been able to see the first three episodes of the new nine-part season. We won’t spoil anything major but are happy to say that the magic is back. If you’re a fan of the show you really don’t want to miss it.
Watch the trailer for Prison Break season 5 below:
In the new season, which is set seven years later, clues surface that suggest Michael might actually still be alive. These clues find their way to Michael’s brother Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) who has fallen into his old ways.
Linc takes the news to Sara, who has remarried since the apparent death of Michael. Also along for the ride are three of Fox River State Penitentiary’s most notorious escapees – Sucre (Amaury Nolasco), C-Note (Rockmond Dunbar) and our personal favourite T-Bag (Robert Knepper).
Here’s the official synopsis:
[blockquote]It’s been seven years since Michael Scofield, was presumed dead, but when clues suggest that he might still be alive, Lincoln Burrows reunites with Sara Tancredi to help track down the truth. The path leads Lincoln to Yemen, as Sucre, T-Bag and C-Note are pulled back into the action to engineer the series’ biggest escape ever.[/blockquote]
