On the latest episode of Legion, David Haller (Dan Stevens) found himself trapped in the astral plane.

The episode opened up with the lost husband of Melanie Bird (Jean Smart), Oliver Bird (Jemaine Clement) sat in a room made of ice which had become a prison of his own making in the astral plane. He was explaining that kids are told two kinds of stories which basically teach empathy or fear. He then explained that the episode was a combination of the two.

Back in the real world Oliver was left frozen in a deep-sea diving suit. Wallace (Jeremie Harris), Kerry (Amber Midthunder) and Syd (Rachel Keller) began investigating David. They used the memory walking powers of Wallace to look at the time David broke into Dr. Poole’s office.

They discovered that David had broken Poole’s skull during the attempt. After initially thinking he broke in for drug money, Syd proposed that maybe he was trying to destroy evidence of a conversation he had. They also wondered if his memories were fake.

Later when talking to David’s ex, Philly, she talked about Lenny Busker (Aubrey Plaza). However she talked about her as a big man named Benny. Before they left she asked them to give David a message of “they’re watching”.

Elsewhere in the episode, David’s sister Amy (Katie Aselton) was still imprisoned by Division 3. She discovered that Dr. Kissinger was in the cell adjacent to her. He spoke of the dog that David had had but she revealed that they had never had one.

The episode also revealed that Cary (Bill Irwin) and Kerry share the same body. She somehow lives within him and only ages when outside of his body.

At the end of the episode Syd and Wallace went to interview Dr. Poole at his lighthouse. However it turned out to be a trap when they discovered that Dr. Poole was The Eye (Mackenzie Gray).

He tried to kill Wallace but Syd removed one of her gloves and touched him in order to switch bodies. This leaves him confused in Syd’s body and saved Wallace’s life. While in The Eye’s body she gave orders to his men to take her body and Wallace away. Meanwhile, Kerry jumped through a window and attacked his men and her actions were replayed back at Summerland by Cary.

In the astral plane, David had found his way to the bizarre Oliver. He eventually found his way out with the help of Lenny. She made him angry to trigger his power which allowed him to transport back to the real world.

Once back he tried to stop The Eye, not knowing that Syd had swapped bodies with him. After swapping back The Eye shot Kerry, which also injured Cary, and escaped.
