On the latest episode of Legion, David Haller (Dan Stevens) began his stay at Summerland.
There Melanie Bird (Jean Smart) was hoping to help him learn to take control of his powers. She helped him tune out the voices to take his first steps at telepathy.
Next he spent time doing ‘memory work’ with Ptonomy Wallace (Jeremie Harris). Wallace is able to remember every detail and enter the memories of others.
Bird explained to David that he had been captured by Division 3 who wanted to study mutants. She also told him that he was never ill, instead the symptoms had been his powers surfacing.
During his memory work, David was able to go back and see memories from his childhood when he was happy with his sister. He was also haunted by a book read to him by his father about the Angriest Boy in the World. In the book the boy murdered his mother.
We learnt that before going to Clockworks that David tried using drugs with Lenny Busker (Aubrey Plaza). He was hoping they would stop the voices in his head.
Bird decided to put David in an MRI scanner to study his brain activity. During the scan he was able to project his mind to Clockworks. There he saw his sister Amy (Katie Aselton) looking for him and Division 3 kidnapped her to use as bait. A panicked David made the MRI scanner teleport outside.
At the end of the episode Syd (Rachel Keller) talked David into mastering his powers before going after Amy.
