Movie Week arrived on Strictly Come Dancing 2016 tonight and boy did it deliver the entertainment.
All 14 couples really raised their game tonight and the leaderboard is so close that any of the couples could win it this year. Once again there were lots of ties at the top of the leaderboard and the points separating the top and the bottom weren’t all that great.
As always I’ve picked my Top 5 favourite dances with no regard for the score that the judges awarded.

5. Ed Balls & Katya Jones – Samba
Ed isn’t the best dancer (by a long shot) but you can’t fault the gusto with which he performs. Everyone doubted that he would be able to let himself go and tonight he finally proved that he’s serious about giving everything he does 100%. Fantastic choreography from Katya too!

4. Will Young & Karen Clifton – Salsa
Despite the awkward bit where Will tried to correct Len (don’t correct someone who knows more than you do Will!), Will and Karen’s Salsa was hugely entertaining. It showed off a different side to Will’s dancing abilities and Karen’s fusion of Bollywood and Salsa was superb.

3. Ore Oduba & Joanne Clifton – American Smooth
Ore had tears in his eyes by the end of this routine and so did I. He was so confident, smooth and charismatic that I was transported while he danced. Joanne is really getting the best out of him and I think he could make it to the final.

2. Claudia Fragapane & AJ Pritchard – Charleston
Claudia finally made her presence known this week by blowing the audience (and me) away with her near flawless Charleston. She was fun, energetic and frenetic in the best possible way. This is her best performance by a country mile.

1. Danny Mac & Oti Mabuse – Paso Doble
There’s no movement at the top this week as Danny Mac once again wowed me. The way he shapes his body and effortlessly moves around the ballroom is absolutely stunning. He’s a natural and his partnership with Oti is my favourite of the series.
