Kentucky born singer-songwriter Chris Stapleton has been experiencing a pretty epic year in the US following the release of his debut album Traveller.
After starting out his career as a songwriter penning tracks for artists including George Strait, Luke Bryan and Adele, Stapleton set to work on his debut album. Traveller has been widely critically-acclaimed and following a CMA appearance that saw him collect three awards and perform with Justin Timberlake, Stapletonās popularity has rapidly increased.
In the UK Stapleton released his album last year and is gearing up for a re-release on 18th March 2016. The first single from the album will be Tennessee Whiskey, which arrives in the UK on 1st April 2016. Both releases will be preceded by Stapletonās eagerly-awaited performance on the main stage at this yearās C2C: Country to Country.
Speaking about his releases and C2C appearance, Stapleton says, “Iām excited (to see) how Tennessee Whiskey goes down in the UK, I know folks in the UK are getting into country music now – so Iām really interested to hear what they think of it. Also can’t wait for C2C ā itās a great line up and Iām looking forward to seeing some of the UK country bands who weāve been hearing about in the US.ā
Stapleton has also just announced that he has joined forces with US mental health awareness campaign Change Direction. He has released a music video for his track Fire Away that features actors Ben Foster and Margarita Levieva, depicting the tale of a man losing his wife to suicide.
With all the buzz surrounding Stapleton right now, itās clear that heās going to be one of the standout performances at this yearās C2C. His mix of bluesy, rootsy country is one that harks back to tradition and stays well clear of the contemporary country music sound.
Chris Stapleton will perform at C2C: Country to Country at Londonās O2 Arena on Sunday 13th March 2016. Listen to his song Tennessee Whiskey below:
