Top 5 Strictly Come Dancing 2014 week 2 dances

Last night all 15 couples danced again on Strictly Come Dancing and tonight one couple will hang up their dancing shoes and head off home.

For our top 10 we take into account the judges’ scores and comments but they don’t dictate who makes our Top 5. Instead we look for progression, entertainment and the wow factor. It was tough to pick just 5 this week but we’ve managed to do it after much deliberation.

Find out who made our Top 5 and leave your comments in the usual place. Do you agree with our choices?

5. Tim Wonnacott & Natalie Lowe

We know that technically Tim wasn’t one of the strongest dances of the night but his beautiful waltz with Natalie Lowe made us a feel a bit emotional. Ballroom is definitely a better fit for time and we commend Natalie for her incredible choreography. Simply stunning!

4. Caroline Flack & Pasha Kovalev

Caroline Flack is proving to be one of the strongest celebs in the competition and her powerful Tango with Pasha Kovalev last night was a joy to watch. Full of intent and purpose (plus we loved Caroline’s Tango face) the routine was easily one of last night’s finest. Caroline is going to go far in this competition.

3. Mark Wright & Karen Hauer

We are loving this partnership on Strictly this series. Karen is really bringing the best out of Mark and their Foxtrot American Smooth was romantic, gentle and beautifully danced. We never expected Mark to be all that good on the dancefloor and two weeks in he’s proving us wrong.

2. Frankie Bridge & Kevin Clifton

The judges may not have been mad about the fusion of the Charleston and the Jive but we were. The 50s spin on the routine and the incorporation of the Happy Days theme was a perfect way to end last night’s show. Frankie has proven she can dance both Ballroom and Latin and we think she’s going to get better and better as the week’s go by.

1. Jake Wood & Janette Manrara

Where the heck did this performance come from Jake? We’re going to be honest and admit we thought he’d just got lucky in week 1 but after last night’s salsa Jake is a serious contender this series. The way he spun Janette around the dancefloor and over his head was jaw-dropping, and what about that using Janette’s head like a football moment? WOW!

Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight at 7.20pm on BBC One.
