Rhys Darby’s Short Poppies coming to Netflix

Rhys Darby’s madcap comedy to début on Netflix.

Short Poppies is a new comedy series written by and starring New Zealand actor and comedian Rhys Darby. Short Poppies will have its international première on Netflix on April 3 where it will be available in the US, Canada and the United Kingdom.

The show follows journalist, David Farrier as he meets the not so ordinary characters in a small New Zealand town, all played by Darby. What we discover is that the ordinary New Zealander is anything but boring in this hilarious, quirky mockumentary.

Rhys Darby is best known internationally for his portrayal of Murray Hewitt in Flight of the Conchords. An accomplished comic actor and standup comedian, this is Darby’s first foray into writing and starring in his own vehicle.

Check out a clip below, featuring Stephen Merchant.

Short Poppies premières all 8 episodes on Netflix on April 3rd 2014.
