Rhydian Roberts has announced the release of his new album One Day Like This on 7th April 2014.
The classical star, who rose to fame on The X Factor, has collaborated with the Orchestra of St John and producer Ben Robbins for One Day Like This. The album features a collection of contemporary crosswover songs such as Nights In White Satin, The Blower’s Daughter and Danny Boy.
Bonnie Tyler, Kerry Ellis and The Edmondson Sisters appear on One Day Like This complementing Rhydian’s powerful voice.
Talking about the album Rhydian says, āThis album has an epic feel. I wanted it to have that wide screen quality you get with the best movie soundtracks. I want it to be mesmerising and inspiring, full of passion and exciting all your emotions. Love, romance, hope, despair, faith, and the joy of being alive are all in there. There are some deeply personal choices like The Pearl Fishers duet by Bizet. Iām duetting with myself as a baritone and tenor, which sounds unusual, but I think really works well. The aria is close to my heart as it inspired me at the age of 14 to become a singer.
To date Rhydian has scored a no 3 album with his self-titled debut and has been nominated for a Classical BRIT Awards. He’s enjoyed success on the stage too in touring productions of Rocky Horror Show, Grease, We Will Rock You and hosted his own Welsh language TV show.
