Emmerdale weekly: Diane & Eric get it on

Not managed to keep up with the going ons in the Dales this week?

Don’t worry, here’s our handy recap for you which takes you through all of the action. Keep reading to find out what storylines are bubbling under for the week ahead too.

Diane and Eric get it on

Disgusted at her sister Val’s treatment of husband Eric, Diane takes Eric in at the pub and then consoles him with a bottle or two in the backroom.  One thing leads to another and the pair kiss then head up to the bedroom.  After some awkwardness the next day, they agree that it was a mistake and they are to forget it ever happened.

Meanwhile, Val decides it’s time to leave town but is caught packing by Victoria who tries, with little effect,  to talk her out of it and confess to Eric what’s going on.  Victoria rushes to Diane and tells her about Val’s HIV worries not realising that she’s inadvertently telling Diane that she too might have contracted the disease through her one night stand with Eric.

Diane gives Val the shoulder she needs to cry on and sheds a tear for herself too.  After some googling she realises that she might have a chance to get HIV blocking medication and sneaks off to the clinic.  Next stop is to get Val to take the test.

Moira proposes

Following James confession of love to her last week, the business deal looks to be up in the air but it’s a level headed Cain that puts Moira back on track and tells her to go through with the deal.  Surprised and encouraged by his support in the face of rival James, Moira proposes to Cain and after an initial argument as to her motives, he agrees and the couple announce their engagement to a jubilant family.  Except that is for James, who cannot help himself but wind Cain up and nearly spills the beans about his and Moira’s former dalliance.

Later in the week though Cain’s sister Chas returns from France (not a jungle in Australia?) and James makes a beeline for her and the pair go on a date.  Cain and Dan both warn Chas that he may not be all he seems but she’s having none of it.  Is James still playing games to wind up Cain or is he trying to move on from Moira?

Smile you’re on candid camera

Bob sets up a spy camera in the café after a recent spate of items going missing but rather than catch a thief, it captures the attention of Ruby who is seething and thinks Bob has done it as he thinks she’s still the thief.  The accused becomes the thief when she steals the camera and plots her revenge.

Her somewhat ridiculous plan is to get stepdaughter Ameila to don her beauty queen outfit and sing and dance that Ruby is resigning (something Ameila believes will make her the next YouTube viral sensation.)  However, upon watching the footage they notice Brenda stealing a scarf and Ruby has to tell Bob and wants him to have it out with Brenda.

Bob tries the gentle approach but Brenda claims that everything is fine and when Alicia’s necklace goes missing he can’t contain his anger and accuses Brenda who denies it and stomps off only to pull the necklace out of her pocket when she gets home.

Bernice gets frisky, or is that frisked?

With her new name Beverley, Bernice steps back in to the dating world this week with online suitor Anton showing up and whisking her off her feet.  Surely it’s too good to be true?  Well, yes of course it is.   She ends up red faced, cuffed to the bed but deeply unsatisfied as it turns out that Anton is a con man who robs the house after making sure Bernice is securely locked up to the bed.

If you only have time for one episode this week

Make it Friday’s episode.  Diane heads to the clinic to try and get HIV blocking drugs, Bob confronts Brenda about her thieving ways and James is trying his luck with Chas.  Finally, you’ll also see the greatest potential TV singing duo since Robson and Jerome when Dan and Cain unwittingly team up for a verse of ‘Roses are Red’.  Dan starts it off in the traditional way of ‘Roses are red, violets are blue’ with Cain getting creative on his half and giving us our favourite line of the week;  ‘Punch in the face or make us a brew’.

Bubbling under

Here’s a look at the coming week:

Eric finally finds out what has been going on with Val but how will he react and do either of the pair have HIV?  Will Eric confess his indiscretion with Diane?

After being tricked and humiliated by Anton, Bernice turns to Nicola  and the pair team up to exact revenge.

More helpful friends next week as Kerry’s attempt to help Brenda but in true Kerry style things don’t exactly go according to plan.

Finally, was it just us or was Gemma going a bit doe eyed over Sean this week?  Could we be seeing a teenage love triangle with her, Sean and Belle in the coming months?  We wouldn’t be surprised at all.
