More4 to air Norwegian drama Mammon

Channel 4 has acquired the UK premiere broadcast rights to new Norwegian drama series Mammon.

The 6-part drama, made by NRK Drama for the NRK Channel, is produced by Vegard Stenberg Eriksen and his based on an original idea by his brother Gjermund Stenberg Eriksen who also wrote the screenplay. Mammon is a compelling thriller about greed and the underbellies of finance, politics and journalism.

Mammon follows six days in the life of uncompromising journalist, Peter VerĆ„s (Jon Ƙigarden), who works for Norwayā€™s most respected newspaper. In a dense, multi-layered plot reminiscent of All The Presidentā€™s Men, VerĆ„s uncovers evidence of a financial fraud involving Norwayā€™s political and financial elite ā€“ evidence that points to his own brother. He makes the fatal decision to pursue the story, which leads to his brotherā€™s suicide. VerĆ„s then turns his attention to the anonymous tip that sparked the mystery, only to discover that the source was his brother himself. Bewildered and grief-stricken, VerĆ„s presses on ā€“ but the closer he gets to the truth, the more dangerous it becomes for him and his family.

Channel 4 Chief Creative Officer Jay Hunt says; ā€œWith its compelling blend of political conspiracies and industry intrigue, and its examination of the damaging effects of chasing the story at all costs, Mammon is a complex, gripping and timely drama. Weā€™re thrilled to be bringing it to a UK audience.ā€

Mammon will air on More4 in the UK in 2014. It premiered in Norway earlier this month.
