My Mad Fat Diary back on the telly

Rae Earl is sixteen and overweight with mental issues and has a mum who’s having plenty more sex than her (loudly). Her life is also full of music, mates, and lady-part-tingler on legs Finn…This is Rae Earl’s life in all its painful, honest and funny glory.

The second series of the E4 show kicks off at the hazy end of the long hot summer of 1996, following Rae revealing the truth about her mental health to her friend group. Things are good in Lincolnshire except college is about to start again.

Rae is determined to put her days as a psychiatric patient behind her and hopes to have a fresh start in college. However the thought of new surroundings and especially new people is terrifying. But there is also the matter of Finn, is he possibly interested in being more than just friends? And if so why is she freaking out??

Home is as unpredictable as ever with Rae’s mum now married to toy-boy Karim and behaving even more irrationally.

My Mad Fat Diary is set in the 90s at the height of Britpop and based on real-life diaries of Rae Earl. The show is returning to E4 once again and we can’t wait to see what Rae has been up to.
