Laughter In The Rain: The Neil Sedaka Story, receives its World Premiere at the Churchill Theatre Bromley on Thursday 4th March 2010. The musical is based on the rise, fall and rise again of pop music's ultimate survivor, Neil Sedaka.

With a career spanning six decades and dozens of hit singles, Neil Sedaka has become one of the twentieth century's greatest pop icons, having been inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame, with a street named after him in his hometown of Brooklyn and being given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

From the innocent fifties to the cynical seventies and beyond, Sedaka wrote and performed some of the world's most beloved pop songs, including Breaking Up Is Hard To Do, Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen, Solitaire, Calendar Girl, Amarillo, Laughter In The Rain, and many more.

Following his first hit Oh! Carol, written for his then girlfriend, Carole King, Sedaka became a teenage idol to rival Elvis. Struggling for almost a decade with the arrival of Brit-rock and The Beatles, Sedaka signed on to Elton John's Rocket Records label, and made a sensational return to the top of the charts with Laughter In The Rain, remaining a national treasure ever since.

The coveted role of Neil Sedaka will be played by Wayne Smith, one of the eight 'Danny' finalists in the ITV hit series Grease Is The Word. Wayne has previously appeared at the Churchill Theatre as Ray in Dreamboats and Petticoats.

The production is produced by the Churchill Theatre Bromley, Bill Kenwright and Laurie Mansfield, following the success of their last collaboration - the smash hit Rock 'N' Roll musical Dreamboats And Petticoats.

Laughter In The Rain is a remarkable story of triumph against odds, featuring some of the most beloved pop songs of all time, in a classic showbiz tale for the whole family to enjoy.
